I got to 2 Overeaters Anonymous Meetings today. The first, at 7:15 this morning had about 130 attendees in a large auditorium. It is, I think, by far the largest meeting in the state. Not that I’ve been to every meeting in the state, but I think I’m right anyway. I’ve been to this meeting [...]

My daughter is particularly sensitive to being made fun of, even in just a gentle way, by her mother. I’ve asked her to stop. She (mom) insists its okay. Can this possibly be okay? Am I missing something here?

I had my annual physical today. So far, so good. My appointment was at 9am and as I didn’t want to have to come back another day for blood work, I fasted, just in case that was necessary. I was hungry at 8am when I might normally eat on a work day. By 9, I [...]

It’s 3am. I’m in a hotel this evening and the people in the room next to mine are smoking dope. Why do I get the munchies? I took a walk. Got some decaf coffee and hope to get back to sleep for a couple of hours. Breakfast is 3 hours away. I’ll live.

And now for something completely different. My rear brakes have been making noise so I took the car in for service. Metal on metal in the rear. $350.00 Oh, by the way, the front aren’t good either. Another $900.00 I can do without a $1250 car repair bill. I decided that as the front didn’t [...]

I wrote a few days ago about how I thought Overeaters Anonymous was and by right ought to be an insular fellowship. I wrote, to the effect, that what happens at a conference about food addiction is none of our business and has no place in OA literature, including local publications like newsletters. What others [...]

Finally the world is safe for milk drinkers (not me). There is a new milk on the block. A better milk. A milk, engineered (more) by man (in the generic sense, human kind sense of the word). Welcome blessed readers to the new world of Hood’s Calorie Countdown Dairy Beverage. According the the Hood website, [...]

An OA buddy is attending an event that is focused on food addiction. He’s going as a participant but not as a representative of Overeaters Anonymous. He offered to write an article about the event for our local intergroup newsletter. My reply to the offer was: I am inclined to say no thanks. It’s not [...]
