To quote my comment on this blog entry: I saw this article referenced on the New York Times website and I had to come here to read the source. Normal is such a slippery concept. Normal has to be what works for you. Normal is the way to eat and the foods to eat that [...]

One part of my daily news feed comes from a science oriented site. There is one new story each day, usually reflecting some recently published article in a peer reviewed journal. Today’s really caught my eye: Obesity linked to stupidity, brain scans show If the headline writer’s goal was to make enemies of 50% of [...]

I’ve learned a lot and, despite some appearances, we agree on a fair amount of stuff, but not everything. A comment I made, and the follow-up comments really took the discussion in a direction that was [...]

My Google home page includes a Quote of the Day. Today’s is: It is difficult to get a man to understand something when his job depends on not understanding it. – Upton Sinclair I swear this applies to program. When I was bound and determined not to understand because I didn’t want to stop eating [...]

Author’s note: I started writing this a few weeks ago. I’ve not updated it to reflect the time passed since then. I played hooky yesterday. I took an official vacation day from work and didn’t let my family know. A day off. A true day off. No sleeping late though. I had to simulate a [...]
